D1) Shane Wise from R.W. Sullivan Engineering would like to receive clarification regarding
- Installation of washing machine connections for an existing 10 story apartment building
- The proper size of chamber/line vents from a storm system gas separator
PV196) HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETIC COMPLEX RENOVATION – 275 ESSEX STREET - LYNNFIELD
The Petitioner (Mr. John M. Perry, P.E.) requests a variance from 248 CMR (Code of Massachusetts Regulation) 10.00, the Uniform State Plumbing Code, Section 10.10 (18) Table 1. The Petitioner seeks a variance to reduce the fixture requirements for this renovation project. Mr. Perry provided the Board office with a copy of the petition letter sent to the Lynnfield Board of Health.
PV209) RESIDENCE (LINDA JOHNSON) – 28 PINE POINT ROAD - PHILLIPSTON
The Petitioner (Mr. Micah Bolduc, Master Plumber) requests a variance from 248 CMR (Code of Massachusetts Regulation) 10.00, the Uniform State Plumbing Code, Section 10.02 (6) 5.. The homeowner uses this location as a summer camp and does not want to waste space for a laundry hookup which they will not be using. Due to the environmental impact and the sensitive area of Queen Lake, the Phillipston Board of Health voted at its April 23, 2014 meeting to request that the state Plumbing Board waive the requirement for a washing machine hookup at this location.
PV253) GAAMHA INC – 208 COLEMAN STREET EXT. - GARDNER
The Petitioner (Mr. Robert Della Valle, Director of Operations) requests a variance from 248 CMR (Code of Massachusetts Regulation) 10.00, the Uniform State Plumbing Code, Section 10.09 (1) (b). The Petitioner notes the renovated area was an open carport/loading dock where light maintenance work was performed. The garage area was inspected during construction by the local Building Inspector before the concrete slab was installed. We were not made aware of any requirements that were necessary in this type of renovation. The petitioner provided the Board office with a copy of the petition letter sent to the Gardner Board of Health.
PV274) COFFEE/BAKERY RESTAURANT – 19 BROADWAY ROCKPORT
The Petitioner (Mr. Dimitrios Markos, Owner) requests a variance from 248 CMR (Code of Massachusetts Regulation) 10.00, the Uniform State Plumbing Code, Section 10.10 (18) Table 1. The Petitioner proposes the installation of 1 unisex handicapped accessible restroom in lieu of the two designated handicapped restroom requirement. The Rockport Board of Health would be in favor of granting the variance for the use of one unisex bathroom instead of the required two due to limited space and a small number of employees.
GV276) MILLENNIUM PARTNERS – 172 TREMONT AVENUE - BOSTON
The Petitioner (Mr. Blair Chamberlain, V.P. WSP Group) requests a variance from 248 CMR (Code of Massachusetts Regulation) 5.00, the Uniform State Fuel Gas Code, Section 5.03 (2). The Petitioner seeks relief from the restrictions regarding the diversity factor for domestic ranges. As this is a gas variance, no Board of Health letter is required
PV277) NADIA URATO – MEDICAL USE OF RESIDENCE - 1180 OXBOW ROAD - WAYLAND
The Petitioner (Mr. Timothy Cossette, Plumber) requests a variance from 248 CMR (Code of Massachusetts Regulation) 10.00, the Uniform State Plumbing Code, Section 10.06 (2) (o) limited use of PVC/PEX. The petitioner seeks relief from the code to allow the installation of PVC & PEX in the medical space within the residence. The Plumbing inspector considers this building an accessory building to be a Medical Health Care Building-Group B which requires code enforcement. The applicant provided the Board office with a copy of the letter petitioning the Wayland Board of Health.
PV278) BRISTOL COUNTY AGRICULTURAL H.S. – 28 CENTER STREET - DIGHTON
The Petitioner (Mr. Stephen P. Dempsey, Superintendent) requests a variance from 248 CMR (Code of Massachusetts Regulation) 10.00, the Uniform State Plumbing Code, Section 10.10 (18) Table 1 & 10.06 (2) (o). The Petitioner requests the following:
1. Waive request to utilize a free standing water dispenser on 1st and 2nd floor.
- Propose installing on service sink and waive requirement to add an addition service sing on 2nd floor and unfinished basement.
- Waive request to eliminate PVC with Cast Iron.
. The Dighton Board of Health has reviewed the concerns of the Dighton plumbing inspector and validates the request and need for a state variance..
PV280) VON RANSON RESIDENCE – 6 LOCKES ROAD - WENELL
The Petitioner (Mr. Jonathan von Ranson, owner) requests a variance from 248 CMR (Code of Massachusetts Regulation) 10.00, the Uniform State Plumbing Code, Section 10.02. The Petitioner requests the following:
1, No flush toilet or related plumbing and allow the use of the installed compost toilet.
2. No hot or cold water plumbed to sinks & bathing facilities.
3. Request kitchen sink be served by a hand pump from dug well.
4. No above roof venting of septic lines. Request the use of a Pro-Vent to 6” above sink rim.
5. Request in lieu of bathtub/shower, bathing system at wash basin with privacy screen.
6. Request no washing machine hookup.
The petitioner provided the Board office with an email sent to the Wendell Board of Health.
