VARIANCE REQUESTS:

VR1) RESIDENCE – DANIEL O’SULLIVAN – 15 OAKDEN AVENUE - BRAINTREE

The Petitioner (Mr. Daniel, O’Sullivan) requests a variance from 248 CMR (Code of Massachusetts Regulation) 3.00, the Uniform State Plumbing Code, Section 3.04. (1). The petitioner purchased a product not listed on the Approved Products Online System site. The Braintree Board of Health will review this variance on August 16, 2012..

VR2a) MBTA-ORIENT HEIGHTS STATION – 1075 BENNINGTON STREET - BOSTON

The Petitioner (Mr. Kyle Davis, Project Manager) requests a variance from 248 CMR (Code of Massachusetts Regulation) 10.00, the Uniform State Plumbing Code, Section 10.10 (18) Table 1.The petitioner is seeking relief from the required fixture count for this location. As this is a state project, no Board of Health petition is required.

VR2b) MBTA-ORIENT HEIGHTS STATION – 1075 BENNINGTON STREET - BOSTON

The Petitioner (Mr. Kyle Davis, Project Manager) requests a variance from 248 CMR (Code of Massachusetts Regulation) 10.00, the Uniform State Plumbing Code, Section 10.10 (18) (b) 1.The petitioner is seeking to waive the requirement to install a drinking fountain. As this is a state project, no Board of Health petition is required

VR3a) STEEL ART COMPANY – (SOLDER POTS) – 189 OCEAN STREET - NORWOOD

The Petitioner (Chris Metoyer) requests a variance from 248 CMR (Code of Massachusetts Regulation) 3.00, the Uniform State Fuel Gas Code, Section 3.04 (1). The petitioner seeks a waiver to use gas solder pots in various manufacturing processes that are not product approved. As this is a Gas Variance, no Board of Health letter is required. Board staff along with Chairman Kennedy reviewed the engineer’s certification the equipment conforms to 248 CMR 3.00, 5.00 and 7.00 applicable sections.

VR3b) STEEL ART COMPANY – (OVEN) – 189 OCEAN STREET - NORWOOD

The Petitioner (Chris Metoyer) requests a variance from 248 CMR (Code of Massachusetts Regulation) 3.00, the Uniform State Fuel Gas Code, Section 3.04 (1). The petitioner seeks a waiver to use a gas oven that is not product approved. As this is a Gas Variance, no Board of Health letter is required. Board staff along with Chairman Kennedy reviewed the engineer’s certification the equipment conforms to applicable sections of 248 CMR 3.00, 5.00, 7.00 and NFPA-86.

VR3c) STEEL ART COMPANY – (PAINT SPRAY BOOTHS) – 189 OCEAN STREET - NORWOOD

The Petitioner (Chris Metoyer) requests a variance from 248 CMR (Code of Massachusetts Regulation) 3.00, the Uniform State Fuel Gas Code, Section 3.04 (1). The petitioner seeks a waiver to use 3 gas paint spray booths that are not product approved. As this is a Gas Variance, no Board of Health letter is required. Board staff along with Chairman Kennedy reviewed the engineer’s certification the equipment conforms to applicable sections of 248 CMR 3.00, 5.00 7.00 and NFPA-86.

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR COMMENTS: 

ED1) At the July 25, 2012 meeting the Board discussed the Table questions regarding what work requires a permit. Mr. Hanley had recommended doing away with the Table and creating Frequently Asked Question document for posting to the Board’s website. Mr. Thomas distributes the document to the Board for review.

ED2) Discussion regarding the new proposed Guideline for connecting to an existing Chimney
