Vocational School Project Requests:

V1)  Blackstone Valley Regional Vocational Technical High School-65 Pleasant Street-Upton
Louis DeCrescentis, Plumbing Instructor, has submitted an application to install plumbing work at Blackstone Valley Regional Vocational Technical High School, with students enrolled in the plumbing program,

VARIANCE REQUESTS:

PV42) HANNA ANDERSON STORE – 696 MARKET STREET - LYNNFIELD

The Petitioner (Mr. David Heidtke, Sr. Architect) requests a variance from 248 CMR (Code of Massachusetts Regulation) 10.00, the Uniform State Plumbing Code Section 10.10 (18) (i). The Petitioner seeks relief from the requirement to install employee designated men’s & women’s restrooms. Mr. Heidtke proposes the installation of one designated unisex restroom. The petitioner provided the Board office with a copy of a petition letter sent to the Lynnfield Board of Health.

PV26) BOSTON PUBLIC MARKET – 136 BLACKSTONE STREET - BOSTON

The Petitioner (Mr. Seth Johnson, P.E.) requests a variance from 248 CMR (Code of Massachusetts Regulation) 10.00, the Uniform State Plumbing Code, Section 10.10 (15). The Petitioner notes in three areas a raised slab cannot be installed high enough to allow the drainage piping to pitch to the existing sanitary system. The petitioner is proposing to install sewage ejectors to lift the waste to the existing sanitary outfalls. As this is a state project, no Board of Health letter is required.

PV38) SUFFOLK COUNTY COURTHOUSE – 1 PEMBERTON SQUARE - BOSTON
The Petitioner (Mr. Stefan Hedio, Supervisor Vending Program) requests a variance from 248 CMR (Code of Massachusetts Regulation) 10.00, the Uniform State Plumbing Code, Section 10.15 (3). The Petitioner seeks relief to connect the discharge of a new dishwasher to an existing 2” main. The connection would be upstream of an existing grease trap which currently serves the triple-pot sink. The discharge is rated at 4-GPM and the existing grease trap is rated at 10-GPM. As this is a state project no Board of Health letter is required.

PV47) NEW ENGLAND REFRIGERATION – 81 INGELL STREET - TAUNTON
The Petitioner (Mr. Robert Weeks, President) requests a variance from 248 CMR (Code of Massachusetts Regulation) 10.00, the Uniform State Plumbing Code, Section 10.10 (18) Table 1. The Petitioner seeks relief from the requirement to provide showers within the freezer warehouse. The Taunton Board of Health supports the variance request. In an email sent to the Board office Scott Bibby, Plumbing Inspector, indicates he supports the request.

PV55) CRABTREE SHELL FOOD MART – 1530 NORTHAMPTON STREET - HOLYOKE
The Petitioner (Mr. Tamer Mahdy, Owner) requests a variance from 248 CMR (Code of Massachusetts Regulation) 10.00, the Uniform State Plumbing Code, Section 10.10 (18) (i). The Petitioner proposes the installation of one unisex ADA compliant restroom. The Holyoke Board of Health has no objections and supports the granting of this variance request.

PV56) GENTLE GIANT VENTURES  – 100B SOUTH STREET - HOPKINGTON
The Petitioner, Mr. Robert Johnson requests a variance from 248 CMR, Section 10.13 to waive the requirement of a deluge shower. The applicant also is seeking a variance from Section 10.15 to allow the installation of a grey water pump into the gravity drainage system. The applicant has petitioned the Hopkington Board of Health regarding this variance request.

(GV64) ART ASSOCIANTION WHISTLER HOUSE – 243 WORTHEN STREET - LOWELL
The Petitioner (Ms. Sara Bogosian, President) requests a variance from 248 CMR (Code of Massachusetts Regulation) 3.00, the Uniform State Fuel Gas Code, Section 3.04 (1). The Petitioner notes the Whistler House is an historic site that is listed on the National Registry. The petitioner is seeking approval to install a non-product accepted cast iron Crawford Gas Range. The cook-top is equipped with electronic ignition. It also has a regulator. The flames have been set for proper combustion. The gas components are CSA US certified. As this is a gas variance no Board of Health has letter is not required

PV65) ART ASSOCIANTION WHISTLER HOUSE – 243 WORTHEN STREET - LOWELL

The Petitioner (Ms. Sara Bogosian, President) requests a variance from 248 CMR (Code of Massachusetts Regulation) 3.00, the Uniform State Plumbing Code, Section 3.04 (1). The Petitioner notes the Whistler House is an historic site that is listed on the National Registry. The petitioner is seeking approval to install a historically accurate slate/soapstone sink that is not Product Accepted. The Lowell Board of Health has no objection to an approval for the proposed sink.

PV68) BLUE MOON GRILL – 955 MAIN STREET - WAKEFIELD
The applicant (Mr. Michael McCarthy, Attorney) requests a variance from 248 CMR (Code of Massachusetts Regulation) 10.00, the Uniform State Plumbing Code, Section 10.10 (18) Table 1. The Petitioner seeks to expand and existing restaurant space. Currently there is an existing non-compliant restroom. The petitioner proposes a new unisex handicapped restroom, but lacks the area or space to construct two handicap restrooms. The applicant provided the Board office with a copy of the petition letter sent to the Wakefield Board of Health.

PV70) MCCORMICK BUILDING – ONE ASHBURTON PLACE - BOSTON
The applicant (Mr. Richard Metcalf from RDK Engineers) requests a variance from 248 CMR Section 10.06 to allow the use of high silicone cast iron in lieu of regular cast iron and Section 10.10 to allow relief from the requirement for the existing below slab drains which are currently being re-lined to have trap primers.

As this is a State project, no Board of Health petition is required.
