PRODUCT REVIEW
PR1) GINDE USA PIPE SYSTEMS
Mr. David Dicks will discuss the Ginde Pipe Systems product line the company is seeking approval for.
VARIANCE REQUESTS:
VR1) HONEY DEW DONUTS – 304 SQUIRE ROAD - REVERE
The Petitioner (Mr. Carlo DeMaria, Owner) requests a variance from 248 CMR (Code of Massachusetts Regulation) 10.00, the Uniform State Plumbing Code, Section 10.10 (18) (2) b.2 & Table 1. The petitioner is seeking a waiver to install one unisex handicap restroom for employees and staff, in lieu of the required two. The Revere Board of Health defers to the Board.
VR2) LIBERTY MUTUAL – 157 BERKELEY STREET - BOSTON
The Petitioner (Mr. Pedro Gonzalez, requests a variance from 248 CMR (Code of Massachusetts Regulation) 10.00, the Uniform State Plumbing Code, Section 10.10 (18) Table 1.The petitioner is seeking a waiver to not require the installation of drinking fountains on floor three (3) through twenty-two (22). Atlas drinking water systems will be installed in lieu of the drinking fountains. Boston Inspection Services acting as the Board of Health defers to the Board.
VR3) MIA’S MUFFLER & TIRE REPAIR – 356 SHREWSBURY STREET - WORCESTER
The Petitioner (Mr. Martin Milan, Owner) requests a variance from 248 CMR (Code of Massachusetts Regulation) 10.00, the Uniform State Plumbing Code, Section 10.09 (1) (b). The petitioner seeks relief from the requirement to install floor drains and a gas/oil/sand separator at this location. The Worcester Board of Health has no objections with this variance request. The Worcester Plumbing and Gas Inspector, Mr. Dominic DeCillis supports the request. Mr. Decillis does not object to the installation of a grease mat and speedy dry as a solution.
VR4) TOXIKON – 25 WIGGINS AVENUE - BEDFORD
The Petitioner (Mr. Jeffrey White, P.E.) requests a variance from 248 CMR (Code of Massachusetts Regulation) 10.00, the Uniform State Plumbing Code, Section 10.15 (10). The petitioner proposes using a duplex grinder pump sewage ejector, with generator backup, to collect the waste from the animal rooms and discharge them to the gravity main. A Board of Health petition letter is on file with the Board.
VR5) RESIDENCE – THOMAS & LUCILLE MILLER – 325 CAMBRIDGE AVENUE - BURLINGTON
The Petitioner (Lorie Giantz) requests a variance from 248 CMR (Code of Massachusetts Regulation) 3.00, the Uniform State Plumbing Code, Section 3.04 (1). The Miller’s purchased a granite sink that is not listed on the Boards website. The Burlington Board of Health voted to offer no objection to the request for a variance.
VR6) BARRY WOOD MECHANICAL MOBILE REPAIR – 137R FORGE ROAD - WESTPORT
The Petitioner (Mr. Barry Wood) requests a variance from 248 CMR (Code of Massachusetts Regulation) 10.00, the Uniform State Plumbing Code, Section 10.10 (18) (i). Mr. Wood’s home and shop are on the same property. Mr. Wood has no employees. The petitioner is seeking a waiver to use his home bathroom of the requirement to install facilities in his shop. The Westport Board of Health supports this variance request..
VR7) RESTAURANT – 218 UPPER MAIN STREET - EDGARTOWN
The Petitioner (Douglas Smith, Owner) requests a variance from 248 CMR (Code of Massachusetts Regulation) 10.00, the Uniform State Plumbing Code, Section 10.10 (18) (2) (s) and Table 1. The petitioner is seeking a waiver from the requirement to install two (2) handicap accessible restrooms for patrons and employees. The Petitioner proposes the installation of one unisex handicap accessible restroom. A petition letter to the Edgartown  Board of Health is on file with the Board..
