VARIANCE REQUESTS:
VR1) HARBOR LIGHTS PIZZA - 9 RAILROAD AVENUE - ROCKPORT
The Petitioner (Patrick Ringwood - Owner) requests a variance from 248 CMR, Section 10.10 (18) (i) to allow the installation of one (1) unisex handicap accessible restroom in lieu of the required two. The Rockport Board of Health supports this variance request.
VR2a) WESTWOOD LODGE - 391 VARNUM AVENUE - LOWELL
The Petitioner (Linda Tetreault, (Architect) representing Mass. Department of Mental Health) requests a variance from 248 CMR, Section 10.10 Table 1 which requires a toilet and lavatory in each patient bedroom. DMH is requesting this variance based on the clinical needs and proper monitoring of patients. As this is a state project, on Board of Health letter is not required
VR2b) WESTWOOD LODGE - 391 VARNUM AVENUE - LOWELL
The Petitioner (Linda Tetreault, (Architect) representing Mass. Department of Mental Health) requests a variance from 248 CMR, Section 10.10 (18) (f) which requires a toilet and lavatory in each patient detention area. DMH is requesting this variance based on the proper monitoring of patients. As this is a state project, on Board of Health letter is not required
VR2c) WESTWOOD LODGE - 391 VARNUM AVENUE - LOWELL
The Petitioner (Linda Tetreault, (Architect) representing Mass. Department of Mental Health) requests a variance from 248 CMR, Section 10.10 Table 1 not to install the required drinking fountains. DMH is requesting this variance based on the proper monitoring of patients. As this is a state project, on Board of Health letter is not required
VR3) MARITIME PROPERTIES (MASSPORT) - 100 TERMINAL DRIVE - CHARLESTOWN
The Petitioner (Dennis Kraez from Diversified Automotive) requests a variance from 248 CMR Section 10.02 Principle #6 not to install rest rooms as required. As this is a state project, on Board of Health letter is not required.
VR4) CARING HEALTH CENTER - 1049-1063 MAIN STREET - SPRINGFIELD
The Petitioner (Mitsu Koshima from RDK Engineers) requests a variance from 248 CMR Section 10.10 Table 1 not to install a shower. Showers will be available on the first floor. The Springfield Board of Health has no objection to this variance request.
VR5) BOSTON TEA PARTY SHIP & MUSEUM - CONGRESS ST. BRIDGE - BOSTON
The Petitioner (Blair Chamberlain) requests a variance from 248 CMR 10.06 regarding the use of flexible connectors to connect plumbing on both ends of the gangway. This special piping system is not addressed in 248 CMR. Boston Inspectional Services is aware of this variance request.
VR6) CHIPOTLE MEXICAN GRILLE - 240 CAMBRIDGE STREET - BOSTON
The Petitioner (Daniel Brennan) requests a variance from 248 CMR, Section 10.10 (18) (i) 4 to keep the existing condition of 1 unisex accessible rest room in the basement for employee use only. The petitioner would like to install 1 rest room on the ground level. The size of this space is 1,653 square feet. Boston Inspectional Services is aware of this variance request.
VR7) GREENFIELD COMMUNITY COLLEGE - ONE COLLEGE DRIVE - GREENFIELD
The Petitioner (Jeffrey Marques) requests a variance from 248 CMR, Section 10.02 Principle #6 not to install rest rooms in a new greenhouse. The footprint of the greenhouse is 1,000 square feet and is located approximately18' from the existing academic building. As this is a state project, on Board of Health letter is not required.
VR8) PAN-AM RAILWAYS - 38 RAILROAD YARD ROAD - EAST DEERFIELD
The Petitioner (Daniel Garrelick) requests a variance from 248 CMR Section 10.02 Principle #6 not to install rest rooms in a new unheated building constructed to house pumps and air compressors. The closest facilities are approximately 300 feet away. As this is a state project, on Board of Health letter is not required.
VR9) MAYFLOWER CEMETERY - 774 TREMONT STREET - DUXBURY
The Petitioner (Peter Buttkus) requests a variance from 248 CMR, Section 10.10 (18) to allow the installation of one (1) unisex handicap accessible restroom in lieu of the required two. The new facility will employ 4 people and is 4,800 square feet (2800 of which is dedicated to crematory functions). The Duxbury Board of Health supports this variance request.
VR10) B.U. OTOLARYNGOLOGIC FOUNDATION - 1201 BOYLSTON ST. CHESTNUT HILL
The Petitioner (Miriam Spear, Architect) requests a variance from 248 CMR, Section 10.10 to allow the installation of one (1) unisex handicap accessible restroom in lieu of the required two. In addition, the petitioner would like relief from the requirement of a shower and water fountain installation at this facility. The Brookline Board of Health has no objections this variance request
VR11) MELROSE HIGH ATHLETIC COMPLEX - 350 LYNN FELLS PARKWAY - MELROSE
The Petitioner (Robert Van Campen) requests a variance from 248 CMR, Section 10.10 (18) to reduce the number of fixtures at the proposed concession/restroom facility for the complex. The total number of proposed fixtures represents more than 50% of the total required by 248 CMR 10.10. The Melrose Board of Health supports this variance request.

D-1) TOPIC - DEPUTY DIRECTOR
Casey Atkins: Recently appointed Deputy Director for the Division of Professional Licensure will be addressing the Board at approximately 9:00am.
D-2) TOPIC - COMPUTER SYSTEM UPDATE
Robin Healey and Lillith Avalon from the Division of Professional Licensure will be making a short presentation at approximately 10:00am updating Board members on proposed changes to the DPL's computer system and licensing process.
