VARIANCE REQUESTS:

VR1) MIDDLESEX SCHOOL BOATHOUSE - 20 RIVEREDGE ROAD - BILLERICA

The Petitioner (Harry Martins, Project Manager) requests a variance from 248 CMR (Code of Massachusetts Regulation) 10.00, the Uniform State Plumbing Code, Section 10.10 (18) (a) 1 Table 1 to not require drinking fountains. The Billerica Board of Health supports the granting of this variance.

VR2) MEMORIAL HIGH SCHOOL - 320 PLEASANT STREET - TEWKSBURY

The Petitioner (Richard Montuori, Town Manager) requests a variance from 248 CMR (Code of Massachusetts Regulation) 10.00, the Uniform State Plumbing Code, Section 10.10 (18) (i) to install one unisex handicap restroom in lieu of the required two. The Tewksbury Board of Health unanimously agreed to support this variance request.

VR3a) MA COLLEGE OF ART - 578 HUNTINGTON AVENUE - BOSTON

The Petitioner (Blair Chamberlain, V.P. WSP Flack & Kurtz) requests a variance from 248 CMR (Code of Massachusetts Regulation) 10.00, the Uniform State Plumbing Code, Section 10.10 (18) Table 1 to not require the installation of drinking fountains on the 2 nd and 3 rd floors. The applicant proposes installing a bottled water dispenser on the 2 nd floor and a reverse osmosis water filtration system on the 3 rd floor, whereby students can fill their water bottles. As this is a state project, no Board of Health letter is required.

VR3b) MA COLLEGE OF ART - 578 HUNTINGTON AVENUE - BOSTON

The Petitioner (Blair Chamberlain, V.P. WSP Flack & Kurtz) requests a variance from 248 CMR (Code of Massachusetts Regulation) 10.00, the Uniform State Plumbing Code, Section 10.10 (18) Table 1 to eliminate the clinic shower on the 2 nd floor to allow for the Lab room. As this is a State project, no Board of Health letter is required.

VR3c) MA COLLEGE OF ART - 578 HUNTINGTON AVENUE - BOSTON

The Petitioner (Blair Chamberlain, V.P. WSP Flack & Kurtz) requests a variance from 248 CMR (Code of Massachusetts Regulation) 10.00, the Uniform State Plumbing Code, Section 10.10 (18) Table 1 to eliminate the bathroom on the 3rd floor as spaces on this floor are restricted to students that have assigned dormitory rooms in the building. The applicants proposes installing a single bath with a shower for the convenience of students. As this is a state project, no Board of Health letter is required.

VR4) DENNIS TOWN HALL ANNEX - 695 ROUTE 134 - DENNIS

The Petitioner (Mr. Christopher Garcia, P.E. Principal) requests a variance from 248 CMR (Code of Massachusetts Regulation) 10.00, the Uniform State Plumbing Code, Section 10.15 (10) (a) 1 and 2 to allow the basement fixtures discharge to a sewage ejector in lieu of the requiring the fixtures connect by gravity to the building drain. The Dennis Board of Health supports the granting of this variance request.

VR5) RESIDENCE - JENNA ANDERSON - 27 ERHARDT TERRACE - METHUEN

The Petitioner (Ms. Jenna Anderson, Home Owner) requests a variance from 248 CMR (Code of Massachusetts Regulation) 10.00, the Uniform State Plumbing Code, Section 10.10 (7) (c) 1 to allow the installation of a shower that is less than the required 900 square inch minimum size. The Methuen Board of Health supports this variance request.

VR6) THE BODY WORKSHOP - 569 HIGH STREET - DEDHAM

The Petitioner (Mr. Frank Desario, Owner) requests a variance from 248 CMR (Code of Massachusetts Regulation) 10.00, the Uniform State Plumbing Code, Section 10.10 (18) (i) 1-6 inclusive to not require the installation of two handicap accessible restrooms in this facility. The facility has an existing full bathroom, with a shower, located in the basement.. The Dedham Plumbing Inspector and the Building Inspector denied the request for construction of this facility with only one restroom. The Dedham Board of Health is not opposed to the variance request

7) OPTOMETRIST OFFICE - 18 GRANITE STREET - HAVERHILL

The Petitioner (John Del Tufo, Engineer) requests a variance from 248 CMR (Code of Massachusetts Regulation) 10.00, the Uniform State Plumbing Code, Section 10.10 (18) (k) to allow the installation of a unisex staff only restroom. The petitioner notes there are separate designated male and female accessible restrooms on the flow below, which are accessible either by stairs of elevator. The Haverhill Board of Health has no objection to the intended request for relief.

8) UMASS LOWELL- ARAMARK DINING SERV ICES - 71 WILDER STREET

The Petitioner (Henry Comu, Plumbing Supervisor) requests a variance from 248 CMR (Code of Massachusetts Regulation) 10.00, the Uniform State Plumbing Code, Section 10.10 (8) (d) to not require the installation of a food waste grinder. As this is a State project, a Board of Health letter is not required.

9) HOUSING AUTHORITY - HERMAN STREET - FALL RIVER

The Petitioner (Everett Douglas Mills Jr., Integrity Mechanical Contractors) requests a variance from 248 CMR (Code of Massachusetts Regulation) 3.00, the Uniform State Fuel Gas Code, Section 3.04 to allow the use of Drisco HD gas piping that is not certified for listing on the Board's website. As this is a gas variance, a Board of Health letter is not required.

10) RESIDENCE, UNIT B - 1774 WASHINGTON STREET - BROOKLINE

The Petitioner (William Doran) requests a variance from 248 CMR (Code of Massachusetts Regulation) 10.00, the Uniform State Plumbing Code, Section 10.02 (17) & 10.15 (10) (a) 1. In an effort to curb continual basement flooding the petitioner is proposing to install a sewage ejector to handle all basement fixtures. The Brookline Board of Health has no objection to the request for a waiver.

11) DPW WATER & SEWER DIVISION - 500 NEPONSET STREET - CANTON

The Petitioner (Michael Trotta, Superintendent) requests a variance from 248 CMR (Code of Massachusetts Regulation) 10.00, the Uniform State Plumbing Code, Section 10.10 (18) (i) to allow the installation on one unisex employee restroom in lieu of the required two. The Canton Board of Health has no objection to this project as proposed.
