DO I NEED A CONVERTER BOX?

  • Q: WHEN THE TV CHANGEOVER TO DIGITAL HAPPENS IN FEBRUARY 2009, WILL I NEED SOME TYPE OF CONVERTER BOX?
A: YOU WILL ONLY NEED A CONVERTER BOX IF YOUR TV IS CONNECTED TO AN ANTENNA, EITHER RABBIT EARS OR OUTSIDE ANTENNA.
  • Q: OK, I HAVE CABLE TV, NOW DO I NEED A BOX TO GET MY REGULAR CHANNELS?
A: IN MOST CASES, THE ANSWER IS NO BOX WILL BE REQUIRED. IF YOU ARE NOT USING A CABLE BOX CURRENTLY, IT SHOULD NOT BE REQUIRED AFTER THE CHANGEOVER. HOWEVER THIS IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE DEPENDING ON YOUR CABLE PROVIDER. IF YOU SUBCRIBE TO PREMIUM CHANNELS SUCH AS HBO, CINEMAX, PAY PER VIEW ETC, YOU WILL STILL NEED TO USE THE BOX SUPPLIED BY YOUR CABLE OPERATOR.
  • Q: OK, HOW ABOUT ME? I HAVE SATELLITE TV, BUT NO CABLE OR ANTENNA
A: THE ANSWER IS THE SAME AS FOR THOSE WITH CABLE: NO CONVERTER BOX WILL BE REQUIRED. YOU WILL USE THE SAME SATELLITE RECIEVER AS BEFORE THE CHANGE
  • Q: IF I ALREADY HAVE THE NEW TV CONVERTER BOX, I KEEP READING ABOUT WILL IT WORK WITH MY CABLE OR SATELLITE SIGNALS?
A: NO, THE CONVERTOR BOX IS DESIGNED ONLY TO WORK WITH BROADCAST ATSC ANTENNA SIGNAL. IT WILL NOT WORK WITH CABLE OR SATELLITE SIGNALS.
