Massachusetts Board of Registration of Dispensing Opticians Announces Enforcement Action
BOSTON - January 17, 2012 - The Board of Registration of Dispensing Opticians announced today disciplinary action against the following licensee:
Dawn Gilchrist, Stoughton
The Board imposed a civil administrative penalty upon Gilchrist. The Board and Gilchrist entered into a consent agreement whereby Gilchrist admitted that her apprentice certification expired on or about Feb. 25, 2009 and that she practiced as an apprentice optician until or about Aug. 19, 2010, a date upon which a Board Inspector informed her that her license was expired. Gilchrist also admitted that she was unaware of the date of the expiration of her apprentice certificate and that she had been dispensing to customers.

The Division of Professional Licensure is a regulatory agency within the Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation. The agency is responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance and the integrity of the licensing process for approximately 365,000 licensees in trades and professions under the jurisdiction of 31 boards of registration.
