Division of Insurance Holds Final Listening Sessions on Home Insurance
Invites comments on affordability, availability, sales, and marketing.
Boston, MA (November 30, 2015) - The Massachusetts Division of Insurance will host its final two informational hearings on the marketing and sale of Massachusetts homeowners’ insurance policies in New Bedford on December 2nd and in Hyannis on December 8th.
These hearings will assist the Division in reviewing the state’s home insurance market, including the availability and affordability of homeowners’ insurance, consumer experience with decisions to deny applications for coverage, and how consumers are notified of potential rate and coverage changes or coverage options.
The public and members of the insurance industry are encouraged to make comments at these informational hearings or provide written comments via email to DOI.HOI.email@example.com. These two hearings, December 2nd at 11:00 a.m. at New Bedford City Hall and December 8th at 11:00 a.m. at Barnstable Town Hall in Hyannis, are the final two in a series of six scheduled hearings.
The Division may, after the conclusion of this series of hearings, issue a decision, create or require additional guidance for consumers and the industry regarding rates and/or products, or take any other actions deemed necessary or appropriate with regard to the issues considered at the hearings.
