Division of Insurance Holds Boston Listening Session on Home Insurance
Invites comment on affordability, availability, sales, and marketing.
Boston, MA (November 13, 2015) – The Massachusetts Division of Insurance will host an informational hearing on the marketing and sale of Massachusetts homeowners’ insurance policies at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 17th at the Division’s Boston office at 1000 Washington Street, First Floor, Hearing Room 1-E.
This hearing will assist the Division in reviewing the home insurance market in the state, including the availability and affordability of homeowners’ insurance, consumer experience with decisions to deny applications for coverage, and how consumers are notified of potential rate and coverage changes or coverage options.
The pubic and members of the insurance industry are encouraged to make comments at this informational hearing, or provide written comments via email to DOI.HOI.email@example.com.
Two additional informational hearings in a series of six scheduled hearings will be held following the Boston session: December 2nd at 11:00 a.m. at New Bedford City Hall and December 8th at 11:00 a.m. at Barnstable Town Hall in Hyannis.
The Division may, after the conclusion of this series of hearings, issue a decision, create or require additional guidance for consumers and the industry regarding rates and/or products, or take any other actions deemed necessary or appropriate with regard to the issues considered at the hearings.
