Reporter 5 Support
Installation Note: Multiuser Mode
Reporter 5 has a new feature: Multiuser mode.  The Multiuser feature synchronizes data between multiple Reporter installations (all of the Reporter applications used must have Internet access).  Reporter will save, synchronize and download data using the EFS server.  So, multiple users can enter and view data on their own computers and use the Internet to share the same data amongst all of their computers without having to be on the same computer network.

If you have existing data and wish to use Reporter in a multiuser environment, you need to coordinate the downloading and installation of Reporter on your users' computers.  The first user should download and install Reporter 5, restore the data, perform an online backup and then set their computer for multiuser mode.  Additional users can then download and install Reporter 5 and should elect to not import data during installation.  Once they have finished installing Reporter 5, they can set their copy of Reporter for multiuser mode and restore from the online backup made by the first user.  This will give all of the users the same data to begin using Reporter.  All of the users will then be ready to work in the multiuser environment.

I have the [Windows 7 / Windows Vista] operating system.  Is Reporter 5 compatible?
Yes.  Reporter 5 was designed to be compatible with both the Windows 7 and Windows Vista operating systems.  Reporter 5 has been tested on both operating systems and is fully functional on both, however, you do need to ensure that you have the administrative rights necessary to download and install files to your computer and to save files to your C:\ drive.  Windows Vista users may need to edit their User Account Controls (UAC) to ensure that they have full rights to perform these file functions.

My PC is part of a network and my user account does not have administrative privileges.  Can I download and install Reporter 5 on my PC?
No, your network administrator, or someone who has administrative rights for the PC, must download and install the Reporter 5 application for you.

NOTE TO ADMINISTRATORS:  During installation, Reporter 5 sets up two folders:
  • Reporter 5: This folder is created in the User's Documents folder.

    Windows 7/Vista folder path:  C:\Users\[USER_NAME]\Documents

Windows XP folder path:  C:\Documents and Settings\[USER_NAME]\My Documents

The Reporter 5 application file and some auxiliary files are stored here.

  • OCPF: This folder is created in the Program/Application Data folder.

Windows 7/Vista folder path:  C:\Program Data

Windows XP folder path:  C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data

Subfolders that contain the database file and additional auxiliary files are stored here.
After installing the Reporter 5 application, you will need to move the Reporter 5 folder to the user's Documents folder and grant administrative privileges to the user for both folders.
