Introduction to PERAC Retirement Guides

In November of 2011, Governor Patrick signed Chapter 176 of the Acts of 2011, reforming and moderniz­ing Massachusetts' public pension laws. With the enactment of Chapter 176, whether one's membership in a Massachusetts contributory retirement system commences before or on or after April 2, 2012 has become an important distinction.

To assist members of the systems and other interested parties about retirement benefits PERAC will pub­lish five guides that will reflect changes and amendments to the law through the enactment of Chapter 176 of the Acts of 2011:
