Because there are virtually no public parking facilities on Beacon Hill, we have included
directions to the nearest private parking facilities.
from the north:
 Route 93 South to Central Artery.
 Take Exit 25 at Haymarket Square.
 Bear right at the bottom of ramp on to New Chardon Street.
 Haymarket MBTA Station will be on the left.
 Keeping to the left, go through the set of lights.
 Take a left into the parking garage (Safe Harbor Garage, 50 New Sudbury Street) (Approximately
100 yards after the lights).
 On foot, exit garage by turning left on to New Chardon Street.
 Cross over Cambridge Street (building on your left is the Saltonstall Building).
 Walk up the hill on Bowdoin Street. Bowdoin intersects with Ashburton Place. The John W.
McCormack Building is on your right at the top of the Hill. You may only enter the
McCormack Building from the front entrance on Ashburton Place.
from the south:
 Route 93 North to Central Artery.
 Take Chinatown/Kneeland Street exit 21.
 At bottom of ramp, take a left turn onto Kneeland Street.
 Proceed on Kneeland Street, which becomes Stuart Street; go through several sets of lights (four).
 When you come to Charles Street South, you must take a right turn.
 Next intersection is at Boylston Street; continue straight on Charles Street.
 The Boston Common Underground Garage is entered from the right lane of Charles Street.
 Leave the garage on foot and walk to the corner of Charles and Beacon Street. Take a right onto
Beacon Street and continue to the top of Beacon Hill, the State House is on the left.
 Immediately after the State House, take your first left onto Bowdoin Street. The Capital Coffee
Shop is on the corner of Ashburton Place and Bowdoin. Take a right at the Capital Coffee Shop.
One Ashburton Place is directly across the street.
from the west:
 Take the Massachusetts Turnpike East. Once in Boston, keep right inside the tunnel and take
Exit 22, the Copley Square/Prudential Center exit.
 When you emerge from the tunnel, the exit merges onto Stuart Street. Continue straight on
Stuart Street through four sets of lights, keep left.
 At the fifth set of lights you must take a left turn onto Charles Street south. Go up Charles Street
and keep right to enter Boston Common Underground Garage. Follow directions on foot as above
for South of Boston.
