Business & Employer Tax Needs

MassTaxConnect is the Massachusetts electronic tax system for new business owners, employers, and former WebFile for Business account holders who need to: 

    • File and pay all business tax types such as corporate excise tax, sales tax, and meals tax.
    • Register a new business with the DOR.
    • Report new employee hires.
    • Withhold and remit employee state taxes.
    • Report employee status changes.
    • Authorize a third party to manage the tax accounts for your business.
    • Verify a Sales Tax Resale Certificate.
    • Request and print a Certificate of Good Standing.
    • Submit the Annual Certification of Entity Tax Status.
    • Register as a third party to file and pay taxes on behalf of clients.

Child Support & Unemployment Tax

About Child Support Payments
Employers use Smart Child Support to remit child support payments to DOR. Employers also have the option to remit child support payments by EFT/ACH. Please contact the EFT coordinator, at 781-917-0050 to set up EFT/ACH payments. pdf format of Child Support Payments via EFT for Employers

About Unemployment Tax and Wage Details
Employers report wage details and pay unemployment insurance tax to the Department of Unemployment Assistance (DUA).

MassTaxConnect Business Taxpayer

    1. Go to MassTaxConnect .
    2. On the Login page, type your username and password.
    3. On the Confirm Identification window, select Send Authentication Text or Send Authentication Email.
    4. When you receive the Authentication Code, copy and paste the code into the Authentication Code box.
      If you are using a personal, secure computer, select the Trust my computer checkbox. Otherwise, you will need to enter an Authentication Code the next time you log in. If you are not using a personal, secure computer, do not check the box.

Previous WebFile for Business Taxpayer

If you filed and paid taxes using WebFile for Business, you can log in to MassTaxConnect using your WebFile username and password.

    1. Go to MassTaxConnect .
    2. On the Login page, type your Webfile for Business username and password.
    3. On the Confirm Identification window, select Send Authentication Text or Send Authentication Email.
    4. When you receive the Authentication Code, copy and paste the code into the Authentication Code box.
      If you are using a personal, secure computer, select the Trust my computer checkbox. Otherwise, you will need to enter an Authentication Code the next time you log in. If you are not using a personal, secure computer, do not check the box.

Business Taxpayer Registered with DOR

If you are a business owner who has filed and paid business taxes in Massachusetts, but do not have an online account (MassTaxConnect or previous WebFile for Business), create an account in MassTaxConnect. 

    1. Go to MassTaxConnect .
    2. On the MassTaxConnect home page, under Sign Up, click Create my Username then supply one of the following:
      • Amount due from one of your last three returns.
      • Amount to be refunded from one of your last three returns.
      • Amount due from a Motor Vehicle Excise bill received after November 12, 2014. The amount due can be from any of the last 3 tax periods.
      • Letter ID from a letter that has been mailed from the DOR, providing instructions on how to register.

New Business Taxpayer

If you are a business owner who has never filed or paid business taxes in Massachusetts, go to MassTaxConnect then click Register a New Business.
