Stimulus funds help Springfield Police stay safeThe Springfield Police Department was able to purchase crucial equipment and train and hire three new police officers, thanks to nearly $1.5 million in stimulus funds. Police Commissioner, William Fitchet says a lot of the equipment they had been using wasn't up to date. Since communication is key when it comes to officer safety, it was an investment they needed to make. Read more.
Stimulus Stories: A hands on -- and green -- approach to weatherization trainingAt Community Colleges across the state students from all walks of life can now learn the latest in weatherization techniques in the most effective way: hands on. And it is a $1 million stimulus award that made that possible. With the funds, MassGreen Initiative built "mock ups" to teach students what they need to know in its Weatherization Installer Course.
