Stimulus funds to help communities rebuild from tornado damage

Over $8 million will help building owners affected by the June 1 tornadoes rebuild using energy efficiency practices and renewable energy technologies. The Recovery Act-funded program, known as ReBuild Western Massachusetts, is designed to assist home and building owners who sustained documented structural damage as a result of the storms. For building owners, the incentives include energy efficiency financing, energy efficiency improvement grants, and renewable energy grants.


Stimulus Stories: Saving energy and lowering bills, with help from the sun and stimulus

Energy bills at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth are about to go down - and it is a stimulus grant that is helping those bills go in that direction. The university is using stimulus funds to install solar panels on five of its buildings. The solar panels total 269 kilowatts and included in the installation is a connection to a web-based system that demonstrates, in real time, the benefits of the solar system. Read more.
