Stimulus-funded digester project receives innovation award

Fairhaven's Department of Public Works received an innovation award for its new stimulus-funded digester wastewater treatment facility. The award was presented at a meeting of the Massachusetts Municipal Association. The award is given to municipalities "for formulating new approaches to solving problems and delivering services." The new digester converts sewer sludge to biogas that can be used to generate heat and electricity. Read more and don't miss Jeffrey Simon's coverage of the project.
