Stimulus-funded broadband project in western MA gets final federal approval
The Massachusetts Broadband Institute has received final federal approval to advance the stimulus-funded MassBroadband 123 network project, which will expand broadband access in Western and north central Massachusetts communities. MassBroadband 123 is a critical component of Governor Patrick's initiative to expand broadband connectivity across the state. Read more.
Stimulus Stories: SMOC's Green Jobs Academy trains workers for weatherization jobs
South Middlesex Opportunity Council (SMOC) launched its stimulus-funded Green Jobs Academy, a new program that trains workers for careers in weatherization. Participants, most of whom have some experience in construction, get two weeks of training in sealing, insulation and ductwork. The program then finds them a 60-day on-the-job training position with one of 20 contractors teaming up with SMOC. Read more and don't miss MassRRO's coverage of the program.
