Stimulus-funded Wind Blade Testing Facility - largest in the US - opens in Charlestown

The first facility in the US capable of testing large-scale wind turbine blades opened in Charlestown. The Massachusetts Clean Energy Center's Wind Technology Testing Center will serve as a critical component in the wind energy industry, speeding deployment of the next generation of wind blades into the marketplace and attracting companies to design, manufacture and test their blades in the US. The facility received nearly $25 million in funding from the Recovery Act. Read more.



Stimulus funds play a role in MA's $1B 2011 road/bridge projects

The 2011 construction season in MA was kicked off with $931 million in road and bridge projects across the Commonwealth. These projects will create thousands of jobs and continue the Patrick administration's efforts to build a strong, sustainable infrastructure. This year's construction program includes $550 million from the Statewide Road and Bridge Program, $208 million from the Administration's historic Accelerated Bridge Program, and $173 million in Recovery Act funds.
