Groundbreaking for stim-funded Whittier Street Health Center buildingThe Whittier Street Health Center in Roxbury broke ground on a new 78,000-sf facility which will nearly double the capacity of services. The estimated $35 million expansion of Whittier includes $12 million from the Recovery Act which Governor Patrick advocated for with the Obama Administration. The project will also create 450 construction jobs and 50 permanent, full-time jobs. Read more.
Stimulus Stories: Partnering to provide opportunity, in SpringfieldWhen Springfield Partners for Community Action received its stimulus awards they wanted to make sure they used the funds in the most effective way possible. They did - with six local social service partners who have been able to help the agency use the funds to expand their services, hire staff and develop programs to help their clients get back on their feet.
