The topping-off of the steel structure brings the state and stimulus-funded project one step closer to completion as the first LEED Platinum certified building in Lowell, and the oldest in the country. MWRA installing new stimulus-funded wind turbine in CharlestownMWRA is installing a new, 1.5 megawatt wind turbine at the DeLauri Sewer Pump Station in Charlestown. The turbine will generate 3 million kilowatt hours of electricity per year and save MWRA ratepayers $350,000 annually. The power generated will be net-metered to offset MWRA electricity costs. This $4.7M project was paid for with stimulus funds. Read more.
