Recovery Act Puts Thousands to Work in Massachusetts
Jeffrey Simon, Director of the Massachusetts Recovery and Reinvestment Office, announced that in the first three months of 2010, state agency awards from Recovery Act have funded 6,400 full time equivalent (FTE) positions, a more than 30% increase over last quarter. These positions represent 16,137 individuals at work in Massachusetts thanks to the Recovery Act. Read more.
Housing authorities get stim-funded energy upgrades
Seven local housing authorities throughout the state were awarded $4.49 million in weatherization recovery funds to replace old, inefficient heating systems with new state-of-the-art units. When completed, these fuel efficiency upgrades will mean lower energy costs and an improved living environment for tenants of developments in the Everett, Millbury, Nahant, Northampton, Natick, Peabody, and West Springfield housing authorities as well as a senior development in Westborough.
