Anna Barahena-Smith, an outreach worker for Boston Center of Independent Living, on her work with Latino people with disabilities. Barahena-Smith was hired with stimulus funds to work with the Latino community.

Groundbreaking of stimulus-funded Codman Square Community Health Center and Codman Academy expansion Governor Deval Patrick joined health care professionals and community leaders at the Codman Square Community Health Center in Dorchester to break ground on the expansion of the health center and its partner charter school, Codman Academy. The Center was awarded nearly $8 million in Recovery Act funding, which will create more than 80 construction jobs and close to 30 additional full time health center positions. Read more.
Stimulus Stories: Improving medical education, resident training and -- most importantly -- patient care A stimulus award was used to purchase equipment to support training by Berkshire Area Health Education Center at Berkshire Medical Center, improving its medical education as well as patient care. The funds enabled BMC to upgrade its audio-visual components, projectors and sound systems and implement remote applications. It also provided BMC with digital radiography equipment for its dental center. Read more.
