Metrowest firms to supply solar panels to state in stimulus-funded projectRenewable energy companies from Holliston and Marlborough will play key roles in what is one of the largest-ever project to install solar panels on state-owned facilities. The $9.8 million program involves $5.3 million in Recovery Act funding. Renewable Sales of Holliston, a wholesale distributor, said it will supply 11,000 photovoltaic panels manufactured by Marlborough-based Evergreen Solar for the initiative. Read more.
Stimulus Stories: The fight against poverty in the Fitchburg area gets a stimulus boostThe Montachusett Opportunity Council is an anti poverty agency that serves Fitchburg, Leominster, Gardner and surrounding towns and cities. Last summer the agency received a total of $5.2 million in Recovery Act funds which it used to maintain and start many programs, hire new staff and provide more clients with assistance.
