Registrar of Motor Vehicles, Daniel A. Grabauskas today announced that Polaroid Corporation has been chosen to build a new licensing system for use in the Registry’s offices across the state.
Registrar Grabauskas said the company was chosen because, "Polaroid shares the Registry’s commitment to superior customer service." He added, "we are pleased to work together to develop a 21st-century system that will move Massachusetts drivers through the licensing process with maximum efficiency and convenience."
The licensing system upgrade is the latest in a series of Registry improvements implemented by Grabauskas that includes creation of a greeter program, increased allocation of customer service staff and expanded Internet services.
Polaroid is the world’s leading supplier of driver licensing and photographic identification systems and will issue more than seven million new Massachusetts driver’s licenses over the course of the five-year contract.

The new system will be installed over the summer and will be fully operational by late October.
