Swift Administration Announces Automated Registration Renewal

The Swift Administration today, announced a new convenient way to renew an automobile registration. Telerenew is an automated service that allows customers to renew their registration by touch-tone telephone in less than five minutes, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Currently, drivers can renew their automobile registration online, by mail, at a local branch or by calling our telephone center, Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

“We are constantly looking at ways to save our customers time and money,” said Registrar of Motor Vehicles Dan Grabauskas. “Now people can automatically renew their registration from their home, office or even their cell phone in less than five minutes anytime of the day or week.”

Registrations must be renewed every two years and renewal forms are generally sent out six to eight weeks in advance of the expiration date. Registration renewals will now feature a Transaction ID Number in the bottom right corner of the document. Customers can call the toll-free number, enter their transaction ID and enter a Visa, Mastercard, or Discover credit card to complete the transaction. If a customer’s registration is in good standing, a new registration and decal will be mailed out immediately. The regular cost of a registration renewal is $35.00, however customers save $5.00 ($30.) by renewing via the Internet, by telerenew or by mail.

The Registry’s award winning website, massrmv.com offers the following transactions online: Registration renewal; duplicate license or ID; duplicate registration; citation payments; special plate orders; change of address; and downloadable forms. In 2000, more than 207,000 customers used massrmv.com to take care of their Registry business. In 2001, we expect to serve more than a half million people online.
