RMV Branches to Close on Saturdays

Effective November 9, 2002, Registry of Motor Vehicles branches will no longer be open on Saturdays.

The move will affect eight RMV locations: Brockton, the Cambridgeside Mall in Cambridge, the Eastfield Mall in Springfield, Easthampton, Lawrence, Springfield, Watertown, and Worcester.

"We hope this will be only a minor inconvenience for our customers, many of whom can now do their Registry business over the phone or Internet," Registrar of Motor Vehicles Kimberly Hinden said.

Starting Monday, October 21st, RMV customers can renew their driver's licenses online if they meet certain requirements. Customers have been able to renew vehicle registrations, pay citations, and order special plates online for more than five years.

Customers can also do Registry business over the phone at 866-MASSRMV (866-627-7768). Callers can renew registrations, book road tests, and have RMV forms faxed to them.
