Express office in Eastfield Mall will help customers 'on the go'

Senator Brian P. Lees and Registrar of Motor Vehicles Kimberly Hinden opened a new RMV branch in the Eastfield Mall Wednesday, fulfilling a promise to provide better service to the people of the greater Springfield area. Massachusetts Turnpike Authority Chairman Matthew J. Amorello joined them at the ribbon cutting to announce a full-service Fast Lane office at the branch.

"I've been pushing for this office since the day I got elected, and finally it's a reality," Senator Lees said. "Now that the Registry has lowered wait times and improved customer service, I'm glad to see they're opening new branches to make service even more convenient.

"This location will make a trip to the Registry much easier for the people of Sixteen Acres, Ludlow, Wilbraham, Palmer, East Longmeadow, and the Boston Road area," he said.

The License Express location features license renewals, registration renewals, and plate returns, Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m and on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Fast Lane office allows customers to get a Fast Lane transponder, make Fast Lane payments, and make changes in their Fast Lane accounts. It's also a convenience for customers who must settle Fast Lane fines and obligations before renewing their driver's license or registration. This is the first such partnership between the Turnpike Authority and the Registry.

"This co-location should bring great ease and convenience to motorists in Western Massachusetts," Amorello said. "It really provides one-stop shopping for drivers who need to do business with both the Registry and Fast Lane."

Registry Express offices have won praise across the state from customers who like the chance to take care of quick Registry transactions while they visit the mall.

"The Registry is happy to have this new office in Springfield," Registrar Hinden said. "It will mean improved service for thousands of people-especially those who are 'on the go.'"

The Eastfield Mall location features the Registry's innovative Q-matic ticketing system, which allows customers to take a number when they get to the branch and see about how long they'll be waiting. Estimated wait times are also available on the Internet at www.massrmv.com and over the phone at 866-MASSRMV (866-627-7768), the Registry's automated self-service hotline.
