The Office of Massachusetts State Auditor Joseph DeNucci

Auditor DeNucci

Dear Massachusetts Citizens,

It is an honor to serve as your State Auditor, and I invite you to read and learn about my office.  The State Auditor is one of six constitutional officers elected statewide in the Commonwealth.  My primary responsibility is to provide independent and objective evaluations of the Commonwealth's financial and operational activities.  The Office of the State Auditor (OSA) works to make government more accountable by reducing waste and eliminating fraud, by identifying opportunities for cost avoidance and non-tax revenue enhancement, and by assisting in improving program performance.

During my tenure, the OSA has uncovered billions of dollars in unnecessary costs, as well as uncollected revenue owed the Commonwealth.  Audit recommendations have helped the Commonwealth save and recover hundreds of millions of dollars.  Most importantly, my office has been a catalyst for helping to improve the state's fiscal management, as well as making sure that government-funded programs are working efficiently and effectively.

Thank you for your interest in the Massachusetts Office of the State Auditor.  Please feel free to contact my office with any questions, comments or requests.

                                                                                 Sincerely,

Auditor DeNucci's Signature
