This "Legislative Initiatives and Updates" page contains summaries of significant laws authored by the Office of the State Auditor, as well as initiatives developed and filed by the OSA for the current legislative session.
Of the many important bills that have become law, most significant is Chapter 647 of the Acts of 1989, the Internal Control Statute, the text of which, as well as forms for reporting thefts to the OSA, may be downloaded.
OSA bills either directly affect the OSA significant audit results, and therefore complement audit recommendations by suggesting systematic improvements.
