Grossman Appoints Allard as Deputy Communications Director

Treasurer Steven Grossman today named Chandra Allard as his Deputy Communications Director, promoting a veteran of his Administration to his media relations team.

“Time and again, Chandra has demonstrated a deep understanding of Treasury’s central goals of protecting taxpayer’s money, enhancing government transparency, creating jobs, and promoting the Commonwealth’s economic well-being,” said Grossman.  “I look forward to her enhanced role at Treasury, as well as her continued advice and counsel.”

Allard joined the Grossman Administration as Special Assistant to the Chief of Staff in January 2011.  In this capacity, she oversaw the Treasury’s constituent relations office, dealing with a host of diverse issues and interfacing directly with hundreds of individuals on issues related to Treasury business. Allard also spearheaded several key projects, including the implementation of the Treasurer’s social media efforts, outreach that she will continue to expand in her new communications position.

Prior to joining the Treasurer’s office, Allard assisted in the statewide field organization of a number of Massachusetts political campaigns, including Grossman’s.  She attended Michigan State University where she was elected to two terms as Communications Director of the Michigan State University Democrats.  Allard also worked as a legislative aide to Representative Mark Meadows, a Michigan legislator and Assistant Leader of the House of Representatives.

“I’m excited to continue serving the Treasurer in this new capacity,” said Allard.  “His initiatives and commitment to the citizens of the Commonwealth are inspiring, and I am thrilled to help carry his message.

Allard replaces Alethea Harney, who recently joined Elizabeth Warren’s campaign for U.S. Senate.
