Statement of Treasurer Steven Grossman on Entergy’s Worker Lockout

Treasurer Steven Grossman offered the following statement in response to the worker lockout at the Pilgrim Nuclear Power Plan in Plymouth:

"I strongly condemn Entergy’s ill-considered and counterproductive lockout of 250 workers at the Pilgrim Nuclear Power Plant in Plymouth. This move is particularly disturbing given the plant’s recent license extension from the federal government despite unresolved safety issues.

“As the CEO of a unionized family business for more than 36 years, I always viewed my colleagues as our company’s strongest asset.  At a time when Entergy needs to reassure the public about the safety of the Pilgrim plant, it needs the partnership of its workers to ensure safe operation.  I urge Entergy to end the lockout and to bargain in good faith so that the public’s confidence in the facility will be preserved.”
