health insurance premiums are paid one month in advance you may see a change
in this month's payment if your premiums are withheld from your benefit.

If there is a change to the net amount of your monthly benefit and you have
the Group Insurance Commission's optional life insurance please note the
additional make-up deduction for your life insurance premium. Members whose February insurance deductions were incorrect due to a GIC programming error
were advised by the GIC that an adjustment would be made to their March
benefit payment. If you have questions regarding this make-up deduction,
please contact the GIC directly at 617 727-2310, ext. 6.

New legislation has changed the 2011 federal withholding tax tables. If there
is a change in the net amount of your benefit, please review your federal tax
withholding amount. If you would like to update your withholding amount,
please fill out a new Form W-4P on our website, mass.gov/retirement.
Also, 2010 1099R forms have been mailed. If you do not receive yours by
February 4, 2011, please call our office at 617-367-7770, ext. 8. You can
view your statement and informational 1099R with Retiree PayInfo. For more

The State Board of Retirement would like to wish you a Happy New Year! If you received a benefit payment from the Board in calendar year 2010 you should
receive your 1099-R by the end of January. If you do not receive your form
by Friday, February 4th, please call us at 617-367-7770, ext. 8 or 1-800-392-
6014, ext. 8 (MA only). This is your year end statement. Your next statement
will arrive only when there is a change to the net amount of your benefit. We
highly recommend viewing your statement and informational 1099-R online. Go

If you retired prior to July 1, 2009 this month's check includes a Cost of
Living Adjustment (COLA) that became effective July 1, 2010 of 3% up
to the first $12,000 of your pension.
*Reminder* Regular mailing of paper statements will be discontinued beginning
next month. You will only receive future statements when there is a change to
your account. You will also receive a statement every December. Our website,
mass.gov/retirement, has information on viewing your statement online.

If you received a benefit payment from the State Retirement Board in CY2009 you should receive your 1099-R by the end of January. Call our office if you do not receive your statement by 2/12/2010.
Insurance premiums for non-medicare retirees are changing effective 2/1/2010. Because premiums are paid a month in advance, this may result in a change in your net benefit amount beginning January. See mass.gov/gic.

Due to changes in the federal tax withholding tables as a result of the 2009 Stimulus Package (the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act or ARRA) you may notice a change to the net amount of your monthly pension benefit beginning next month. If you would like to change your withholding, please submit a revised W-4P form, available on our website, mass.gov/retirement. The State Retirement Board is conducting a regularly scheduled election for one of its two elected positions. Ballots for the election will be mailed on or about March 6, 2009. Members will have the option of voting by mail or online. Instructions will be included with your ballot. Go to mass.gov/retirement for more information.
