Free Training for First Responders & Healthcare Professionals on Dealing with a Veteran's Invisible Wounds
Calling all First Responders (including Police, Fire, EMTs, Nurses and Allied Health Professionals):
The Home Base Program is offering free, online, on demand, accredited, short training videos on PTSD, traumatic brain injury, substance abuse, identifying suicide risk, and understanding how military culture impacts care. The series is aimed at educating those who have regular contact with veterans, and have the opportunity to recognize those at risk or in need of service.
Each session is under an hour in length, includes firsthand accounts from Veterans, as well as a robust list of resources for further care. There are 380,000 Veterans currently living in Massachusetts. One in three Veterans suffer from an invisible wound of war. Help us improve the identification, care, and referral of those Veterans who are suffering. See the videos here.
Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Benefit Concert (Fundraiser)

Hosted by Veterans Assisting Veterans, this classic rock fest is going to officially welcome Vietnam veterans to Massachusetts. All the money raised will go to local organizations to help veteran first responders with PTS and buy TRAK wheelchairs for combat-wounded veterans. Serving Those Who Have Served Event: Providing Behavioral Health Services to Members of the Military, Veterans and their Families

This presentation will educate licensed mental health providers about the invisible wounds of war-Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). You will learn about the reintegration process and how a service member’s invisible wounds of war can impact family dynamics. You will learn the unique aspects of military culture, from veteran’s personal experiences, and tips for how to engage service members, veterans and military connected families in care.
At the end of the presentation, mental health providers will be able to:
(1) Understand the invisible wounds of war and how to intervene: PTSD, TBI, Substance Abuse and Depression.
(2) Summarize the unique aspects of military culture and how they affect veteran mental health.
(3) Identify three key steps you can take to identify and support service members, veterans and military connected families.
