Women Veterans Paddle on the Charles River

When: Wednesday, September 9, 2015 8 AM Where: Nahanton Park, Newton, MA
Sponsored by VA Boston Adaptive Sports Program, the Charles River Canoe and Kayak, and NEHSA, this event will bring women veterans together with a day of kayaking. Transportation from the Bedford VA Medical Center will meet at 8 am in parking lot 10. Lunch will be provided by the Newton Lodge of Elks upon returning from the paddle.Veterans and volunteers must preregister by Friday, August 28th. Thanks to Yanks Dinner

When: Friday, September 11, 2015 6 PM–8 PM Where: Double Tree by Hilton, 11 Beaver Street, Milford, MA 01757
The annual Thanks to Yanks Dinner honors all past and present service members and their families, and recognizes the sacrifices and remembers the heroes and victims of 9/11/2001. This dinner is a non-political event that is completely free. Reservations are required by Friday, September 4th. Stand Down Against Homelessness in Lowell and Bedford 

When: Thursday, September 17, 2015 10 AM–2 PM and Friday, September 18, 2015 9 AM–1 PM  Where: (Thursday) Lowell Memorial Auditorium, 50 E. Merrimack Street, Lowell, MA; (Friday) Bedford VA Medical Center, 200 Springs Road, Bedford, MA

Sponsored by The Veterans Northeast Outreach Center; the City of Lowell; and Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital. Thursday's stand down services will occur in Lowell. Services will include: IRS, military surplus, social services, legal services, housing, employment, SNAP, education, clothing, mental health, health screenings, and more. Thursday's stand down will end with evening workshops, dinner, and fun in Bedford (transportation will be provided). Accommodations will be made for those who wish to stay overnight at the Bedford VA. Meals will be provided; all are invited; attend any or both days of the stand down. Rolling Thunder's Ride for Remembrance 

When: Sunday, September 20th 9 AM  Where: VFW Post 1018, 500 Morton Street, Dorchester, MA 02124 and Green Hill Park, 50 Skyline Drive, Worcester, MA 01605

All are welcome to attend Rolling Thunder's Ride for Remembrance, an escorted ride to the Massachusetts Vietnam Veterans' Memorial.There will also be music, raffles, and food trucks. Free to watch. Rain date September 27th. 

MassVets MusicFest

The annual Massachusetts veterans music festival is being held at Dennis Days in Cape Cod on Saturday, September 26. Festival includes: music, food, information booths, kids' zone, special guests, face painting and more. Contact veteransvoiceradio@gmail.com for more information. 

Second Annual Western Mass Veterans' Expo

Women Veterans' Retreat

When: Saturday, October 24, 2015 9 AM–3 PM  Where: Ted Williams Camp, 28 Precinct Street, Lakeville, MA 02347
Hosted by the Women Veterans' Network, all women veterans are welcome to attend this relaxing retreat with fellow sister veterans. Workshops include: relaxation techniques to manage stress and sleep, communication tools for better communication and relationships.Facilitated by Joanie Winberg, a certified interpersonal skills specialist, divorce mentor, and conflict resolution/stress management trainer. Certified yoga instructor, Linda Perry, will also be there. Breakfast and lunch will be served, free of charge. RSVP by October 19th here.
