Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) is a Department of Defense organization that seeks to develop and promote a culture in which all American employers support and value the military service of their employees by recognizing outstanding support, increasing awareness of the law and resolving conflicts through mediation.


Trained ombudsmen provide information, consultation and mediation concerning USERRA (Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act) compliance. ESGR ombudsmen are neutral parties in resolving disputes between civilian employers and their employees serving in the Guard and Reserve. They work to resolve issues to the satisfaction of all parties.
