Eighth Annual Celebration: 2012
The Women Veterans' Appreciation Day event will take place on Thursday, Nov 1st, 2012 at 11:00AM at the State House in Memorial Hall, Boston. The Deborah Sampson Award will be presented to MSG Carin Smith, a member of the Massachusetts National Guard and a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Seventh Annual Celebration: 2011
The Women Veterans' Appreciation Day event will take place on Thursday, November 3, 2011 at 11:00 AM at the State House in Boston. The Deborah Sampson Award will be presented to LTC Andrea Gayle-Bennett, a member of the Massachusetts National Guard Medical Command and a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Fourth Annual Celebration: 2008
The fourth annual Women Are Veterans Too! event took place on Friday, November 7, 2008 in the State House, Memorial Hall of Flags. Governor Deval Patrick and Lt. Governor Tim Murray spoke and Brigadier General Marie T. Field (MAANG, Ret.) gave the keynote address. The Outstanding Women Veteran Award was presented to Phyllis Santangelo Galeaz of Lynn (Army Nurse Corps 1941-45) and Kathleen M. Splinter of Fall River (Army Nurse Corps 1966-69). See the event

featured a keynote address by Theresa and Elizabeth O'Doherty, sisters who served in Operation Iraqi Freedom. The Outstanding Women Veteran Award was presented to Sara Payne Hayden of Methuen (WASP 1944, Air Force 1949-53) and Mary L. Anderson of Dorchester (Army Reserves 1975-97). Lillian J. Eaton of Amesbury and Mary Beth O'Sullivan of Brockton will receive the Outstanding Woman Veteran Award. Ms. Eaton served in the Navy during World War II and Ms. O'Sullivan's service with the Navy and Naval Reserves has spanned two and a half decades. The

First Annual Celebration: 2005
On November 10, 2005, over 100 women veterans and their supporters gathered to honor women's military service in Nurse's Hall at the Massachusetts State House. This event was co-hosted by the Massachusetts Women Veterans' Network and the Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women. The presentation of the first annual Outstanding Woman Veteran award was given to two honorees: Alice Morrison (Army nurse, WWII) and Kaye Yoon (Women's Army Corps combat medic, Vietnam). Keynote speaker was Massachusetts National Guard CAPT Margaret E. Oglesby, Commander of the 747th Military Police Company at the Kabul Military Training Center in Afghanistan from January through September 2003. Please view the
