Hanishi Thanawalla Ali is a multi-jurisdictional lawyer and the managing attorney at Mithras Law Group, an international business law and global immigration law firm. Ali has served as a senior expert with UNDP to provide advice and comparative basis to the Government of Uzbekistan. She has served as chair of the International Law Committee and as chair of the Women in the Profession Committee of the YLD American Bar Association. She has also served as vice-chair of the Immigration Law Committee and currently serves as the vice-chair of the India committee and the Middle-east committee of the American Bar Association. Ali has received a Citation from the President of the Massachusetts Senate and a Citation on behalf of the Massachusetts House of Representatives for public service and civic leadership. She received the 2010 Women in Business Award from Worcester Business Journal and an Excellence in Law award from the Massachusetts Bar Association and Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly in 2012. Ali founded the Network of South Asian Women (NetSAW), an all-volunteer based non-profit, whose mission is to  promote career advancement and leadership development of women in all fields through professional development, networking, leadership, and community service. Ali volunteers with a number of community organizations and has served on the board of several non-profits. She completed her undergraduate education at Ohio Wesleyan University where she earned a double B.A. in Journalism and Economics Management, followed by a law degree and a post-graduate law degree from the University of Edinburgh, UK.
