Explore local chronic disease estimate data

This dataset includes percentages of Massachusetts adults with some chronic diseases or risk behavior. Percentages are given for specific counties, towns, and statewide. Town values are model-generated estimates using information from multiple datasets including Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) data (2012 – 2014) and census data.

Explore chronic disease hospitalizations data

Massachusetts acute care facilities licensed as hospitals by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health are required to submit data on all hospitalizations to the Massachusetts Center for Health Information and Analysis (CHIA) annually. These data contain information on each patient, such as the patient's age, sex, race, the health conditions for which they received treatment, and other aspects of their treatment. These data are initially collected by hospitals for billing purposes, but contain information useful for public health purposes. Each case record represents a single hospitalization, emergency department visit, or outpatient observation visit. For example, if a person is hospitalized two times in a year, there will be two case records for that patient in the dataset. Data include Massachusetts and out-of-state residents.
