521 CMR 38.00:   AUTOMATED TELLER MACHINES (ATM)

38.1	GENERAL
Where only one automated teller machine (ATM) is provided, it shall comply with 521 CMR 38.  Where two or more are provided at a location, then only one must comply.  Each machine required to be accessible shall be on an accessible route.

Exception:  Drive up teller machine.

38.2	CONTROLS
Controls for user activation shall comply with the requirements of 521 CMR  39.00:  CONTROLS.

38.3	CLEARANCES AND REACH RANGE
Free standing or builtin units not having a clear space under them shall provide a clear floor space in front that allows a forward or a parallel approach to the unit allowing a person in a wheelchair to access the controls and dispensers.  The highest operable part of controls, dispensers, receptacles, and other operable equipment shall be placed within at least one of the reach ranges specified in 521 CMR 6.5, Forward Reach and 521 CMR 6.6, Side Reach. 

38.4	EQUIPMENT FOR PERSONS WITH VISION IMPAIRMENTS
Instructions and all information for use on the accessible units shall be made accessible to and independently usable by persons with vision impairments.
