What to Do if You Forgot Your Password

If you forget your Self-Service password, you have two options to recover your password.  The first is to reset your password yourself.  The second is to contact the MassHR Employee Services Center or your agency Human Resources or Payroll Office.

In this scenario you will learn how to reset your password yourself.

On the Self-Service login page, click on the Forgot Your Password? link.

After clicking the link, you will arrive at the Forgot My Password page.  There is a message on the page that states If you have forgotten your password, or your password has expired, you can have a new password emailed to you.

There is another message on the page which tells you to Enter your User ID [Employee ID] to find your profile.

Next to the message is a blank text box.  Enter your Employee ID number and click on the Continue button.

You will arrive at another Forgot My Password page.  On the top of this page is your User ID (or Employee ID) and your Self-Service email address.

Below your User ID and email address is a message that is asking you to Answer the following question below for user validation.

The question is:  Enter your birthdate (use this format - YYYYMMDD)  [four digit year, two digit month, and two digit day].  In this example use June 7, 1981, by entering 19810607.

Click on the Email New Password button located below the text box.

A new temporary password will be sent to your Self-Service email address.

Log into Self-Service with your User ID and temporary password.

After you login, you will be directed to change your password again.
