Change in Personal Needs Allowance
Effective July 1, 2007, the personal-needs allowance (PNA) for residents
of nursing facilities and chronic disease and rehabilitation and psychiatric 
hospitals who are MassHealth members and receive Supplemental Security Income 
(SSI) was increased to $72.80 per month. 

Systems Changes
MassHealth’s systems were updated to reflect the new PNA amount on July 13, 
2007. All affected cases were updated and sent notices.

SSI PNA Retroactive Checks
SSI recipients residing in these facilities will receive retroactive PNA
payments later this year (no earlier than November 2007).
