Overview   of Needham/Newton Corridor Reconstruction Project- Virtual PIM 02/03/21

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) has scheduled a virtual public information meeting via Zoom to share an updated construction schedule for the Needham-Newton Corridor Project and introduce work planned for Newton that will begin later in February.

The project entails improvements for traffic safety and operations and multimodal accommodations from Highland Avenue at Webster Street in Needham to Winchester Street at Route 9 in Newton. MassDOT has developed a robust public outreach program to ensure abutters and the traveling public are kept informed about construction progress and impacts. MassDOT is also coordinating closely with Needham and Newton municipal staff and elected officials, the Chamber of Commerce, and others.

Utility work in Newton is anticipated to begin in February 2021, with surface work anticipated to begin in fall 2021. The majority of work will occur during daytime hours; however, some work such as paving will require nighttime work. Notice of this work will be shared via the project email list in advance.
