Proposed Amendments to 201 CMR 16.00: Placing, Lifting and Removal of Security Freezes

The amendments are necessary to update the regulation with the statutory changes to M.G.L. c. 93, § 62A that became effective in April 2019 requiring that consumer reporting agencies provide services to consumers who request the placing, lifting, and removal of security freezes free of charge. The regulation currently has outdated language allowing fees to be charged to consumers for credit freeze services.
