Overview   of Tobin Bridge/Chelsea Curves - North Shore regional municipal forums - Haverhill

These forums will provide elected/appointed officials, key municipal employees (DPW, public safety, planning) an opportunity to be briefed on the upcoming Tobin Bridge/Chelsea Curves Rehabilitation Project on Route 1.

Surrounding municipalities are welcome to attend any of the regional forums. The open house style will focus on the construction phasing, project timeline, and anticipated travel impacts.

The Maurice J. Tobin Memorial Bridge and the Chelsea Viaduct (U.S. Route 1) are undergoing rehabilitation in order to remain safe and in service through the 21st Century. In order to minimize the impacts to the 63,000 vehicles per day using Route 1 and the MBTA bus routes that cross the viaduct and bridge, MassDOT has resequenced these jobs to minimize total construction duration and limit the impacts as much as possible. This resequencing will lessen the duration of impacts to road users, improve the quality of life to those living around the structures, and minimizes the risk of project delays.
