Exploring the Modern Workplace with Vocational Rehabilitation 

Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) helps people with physical, psychiatric, and learning disabilities find and keep a job. VR empowers you to explore college, vocational training, and connects you to fulfilling employment opportunities.

  • VR is a great option if your career goal requires a two- or four-year degree.
  • MRC collaborates with public colleges and universities, professional training programs, and employers statewide, to partner with people with disabilities to expand what’s possible in their career and work life.
  • VR counselors work to offer you counseling and guidance, job-driven training and skills training, aptitude testing, job placement assistance, college or vocational training, assistive technology, financial wellness, employer consultation, and so much more.

Vocational Rehabilitation Services

Since every person has different goals and needs, you may need only some of the VR services MRC provides. VR services include:

  • Counseling and guidance
  • Interest and aptitude testing
  • Job placement assistance
  • Diagnostic evaluations
  • College or vocational training
  • Assistive and/or rehabilitation technology
  • School to work
  • Employer consultation
  • Communication access services (ASL interpreters, oral transliterators, Communication Access Real-time Translation (CART)

Am I Eligible for Vocational Rehabilitation?

All Vocational Rehabilitation consumers must:

  • Live in Massachusetts
  • Be eligible to work in the United States

Eligibility information is gathered from:

  • Current schools
  • Physicians
  • Therapists
  • Hospital and other medical records
  • Self report
  • Social Security Administration
  • Psychological or neurological evaluation
