  3. Have not had a break in service greater than five (5) years.

Requirements to register for the Bridge Academy in ACADIS

An individual officer may not register themselves for the Bridge Academy.  The Chief or Point of Contact for the agency must register an individual officer.  The following is required during the registration process to successfully enroll in the Bridge:

  1. Medical Screening:  The Application for Enrollment must be accompanied a copy of pages 1 and 8 of the Human Resource Division (HRD) Medical Examination Form executed dated within 9-months of the start date of the academy. Every individual shall be required to submit page 1 and page 8 of an HRD Initial-Hire Medical Standards Medical Examination Form signed by a medical doctor. All candidates must be medically cleared to participate without limitations in the practical skills-based sessions including defensive tactics, emergency vehicle operation course, and firearms training. Failure to comply with this process shall result in the applicant being denied enrollment to the Bridge Academy.
  2. Completed Agreement and Indemnification Form:  Every individual shall complete a signed MPTC Agreement and Indemnification Form prior to the start of the MPTC Bridge Academy.
  3. Health Insurance:  Every individual shall be required to provide proof of full medical coverage, which will remain in full force and effect through the entire MPTC Bridge Academy.

Medical or Military Deferral Request

Although the MPTC is charged with delivering training, we are not the body that certifies individuals as law enforcement officers so anyone interested in a deferral should reach out to the POST Commission.  Contact information is below.

POSTC Certification (PST)
Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Commission
POSTCCertification@mass.gov

Once the POST Commission makes its determination, we will attempt to work with you within the parameters set by POST to respond to the potential need to extend your training beyond the currently designated period.

MPTC Instructor Waiver from Skills Training

For instructors who are certified on Acadis in EVOC, Defensive Tactics or Firearms, the link for a waiver can be found at the link below.  No waiver is complete until a formal letter granting the exemption is sent.

Special Note for Full-time Special State Police Officers (SSPOs)
