What you need
To apply for a position within the Trial Court or Appeals Court, a candidate must apply online through our online applicant tracking service during the posting period. The online application must be submitted no later than the end of the day on the closing date of the posting.
Consistent with state law (Ch. 478, s. 328 of the Acts of 1978), only persons who are residents of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts may serve as officers in or as employees of the Judicial branch.

How to apply
If you are an external candidate applying for a job in the Trial Courts or Appeals Court, click on the link above to search for jobs online. From there, you can view and search for available jobs that you can apply for.
- After clicking on the job that you wish to apply for, look for two dark gray buttons on the top right of the page that say "Apply for this job online" and "Refer this job to a friend."
- To apply, click on the button that reads "Apply for this job online." You will then be prompted to either: 1) sign in if you are a returning candidate and have already made a profile, or 2) make a new profile if it is your first time applying within the courts system.
- Follow the prompts for filling out your profile and submit the necessary forms to apply for the job.
You should receive an automated confirmation via email acknowledging receipt of your application. Selected candidates will be contacted for interviews and screenings.
