What you need for Apply for Financial Education Fair Funding

APPLICATIONS ARE NOW CLOSED

The deadline to submit all required forms to apply for the Financial Education Innovation Fund is now: Tuesday, February 11, 2020 by 5 p.m. EST.

Note: Applicants are only eligible to apply once per school year. Applicants who received funding in the Financial Education Innovation Fund Grant Round VIII during school year 2019-2020 are not eligible to apply for this round. Applicants who are applying for this round must have their fair completed on or before June 19, 2020. If you have any questions about your eligibility, please contact the Office of Economic Empowerment at empowerment@tre.state.ma.us.

Schools can apply if they meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Applicant must be one of the following:
    • A Massachusetts public or charter high school in the Commonwealth
    • A Massachusetts special education program approved by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education
  • Applicants must submit all mandatory documents and Commonwealth forms as instructed.

Applicants will fit in one of the following three categories:

Seed Applicant is defined as an applicant school that is planning a financial education fair for the first time and has NOT received prior funding from the Innovation Fund. Seed Applicants must complete all three steps of the application process to apply for up to $5,000 in seed funds to start a new program.

Innovation Applicant is defined as an applicant school that has executed a financial education fair in the past, but has NOT received prior funding from the Innovation Fund. This applicant will propose how to innovate the fair by expanding and/or enhancing an existing fair (up to $2,500). Innovation Applicants must complete all three steps of the application process.

Continuation Applicant is defined as a past Seed or Innovation grant recipient school. These schools have successfully executed a financial education fair, plan to continue the program, and are applying for a grant to expand and/or enhance an existing fair (up to $2,500). Schools that were grant recipients during 2015-2016,  2016-2017, 2017-2018 and 2018-2019 academic years are eligible to apply again.  Continuation Applicants must upload a Projected Budget and Narrative form on the online application. 

How to apply Apply for Financial Education Fair Funding

The application process is a combination of a required online registration form, fillable forms, and Commonwealth forms (to be printed and signed).

Details provided in the steps shown below.

  1. Complete the online Grant Application Form to enter the grant program
  2. Download and complete the Program Design Form and Projected Budget and Narrative Form. Forms can be attached to the online application.
  3. All applicant schools applying to the Financial Education Innovation Fund must print and complete the following Commonwealth documents:

Next steps for Apply for Financial Education Fair Funding

  1. Online Grant Application Form

    All applicants must complete the online Grant Application Form. It requires applicants to provide contact and basic background information.

  2. Program Design Form (editable Word), Projected Budget, and Narrative Form (Excel)

    Seed Applicants and Innovation Applicants are required to complete the Program Design Form and Projected Budget and Narrative Form. You will upload these forms when you fill out the online application form.

    Continuation Applicants are required to complete the Projected Budget and Narrative Form. You will upload this form when you fill out the online application form.

  3. Commonwealth Forms

    Seed Applicants, Innovation Applicants, and Continuation Applicants must complete the following forms:
