What you need for Apply for Financial Education Fair Funding
Applications for the 2022-2023 Financial Education Innovation Fund Grant are now being accepted! The deadline to submit all required forms is Thursday, September 29th by 5 p.m. EDT. Please follow the application instructions below.
Note: Applicants are only eligible to apply once per school year. If you have any questions about your eligibility, please contact the Office of Economic Empowerment at empowerment@tre.state.ma.us.
Schools can apply if they meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Applicant must be one of the following:
- A Massachusetts public or charter high school in the Commonwealth
- A Massachusetts special education program approved by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education
- Applicants must submit all mandatory documents and Commonwealth forms as instructed.
Applicants will fit in one of the following three categories:
Seed Applicant is defined as an applicant school that is planning a financial education fair for the first time and has NOT received prior funding from the Innovation Fund. Seed Applicants must complete all three steps of the application process to apply for up to $5,000 in seed funds to start a new program.
- Must submit a completed online Grant Application Form
- Must submit a Program Design Form in accordance with instructions set forth by the OEE
- Must submit a completed Projected Budget Form and Narrative
- Must submit other forms as required by the OEE
Innovation Applicant is defined as an applicant school that has executed a financial education fair in the past, but has NOT received prior funding from the Innovation Fund. This applicant will propose how to innovate the fair by expanding and/or enhancing an existing fair (up to $2,500). Innovation Applicants must complete all three steps of the application process.
- Must submit a completed online Grant Application Form
- Must submit a Program Design Form in accordance with instructions set forth by the OEE
- Must submit a completed Projected Budget Form and Narrative
- Must submit other forms as required by the OEE
Continuation Applicant is defined as a past Seed or Innovation grant recipient school. These schools have successfully executed a financial education fair, plan to continue the program, and are applying for a grant to expand and/or enhance an existing fair (up to $2,500). Schools that were grant recipients during 2015-2016, 2016-2017, 2017-2018, 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 academic years are eligible to apply again. Continuation Applicants must upload a Projected Budget and Narrative form on the online application.
- Must submit a completed online Grant Application Form
- Must submit a completed Projected Budget Form and Narrative
- Must submit other forms as required by OEE
How to apply Apply for Financial Education Fair Funding
The application process is a combination of a required online registration form, fillable forms, and Commonwealth forms (to be printed and signed).

- All applicants must complete the online Grant Application Form to enter the grant program.

Seed Applicants and Innovation Applicants are required to complete the Program Design Form (editable Word document) and Projected Budget Form and Narrative (Excel). Forms can be attached to the online application.
Continuation Applicants are required to complete only the Projected Budget Form and Narrative. You will upload this form when you fill out the online application.
