Health:  You qualify for state retiree benefits if you are retired from the Commonwealth’s Executive Branch, the judiciary, legislature, UMass and other state colleges and universities, housing, redevelopment and certain other authorities and receive a pension from a public retirement system. To add a spouse or dependent to coverage, documentation (e.g., copy of marriage or birth certificate) is required to accompany the form. If enrolling within 60 days of a qualifying event, you must attach proof of the qualifying event to your enrollment form.

Retiree Dental:  All state retirees, Elderly Governmental Retirees (EGRs), survivors, GIC Retired Municipal Teachers (RMTs who do not participate in the municipal health-only program) and Retirees and Survivors from participating Municipalities are eligible for the GIC Retiree Dental Plan. Retirees and survivors from the following municipalities that have elected to offer the plan are eligible:

City of Melrose, Town of Ashland, Town of Bedford, Town of Brookline, Town of Holbrook, Town of Hopedale, Town of Marblehead, Town of Middleborough, Town of Millis, Town of North Andover, Town of Randolph, Town of Swampscott, Town of Weston, Town of Westwood, Town of Winchendon, Athol Roylston School District, Northeast Metropolitan Regional Vocational School District

If your municipality is not listed, you are not eligible for GIC Retiree Dental benefits. Contact your municipal benefits office for additional information.

This is an entirely voluntary (retiree-pay-all) benefit option that provides GIC members with coverage at discounted group insurance rates through convenient pension deductions. To add a spouse or dependent to coverage, documentation (e.g., copy of marriage or birth certificate) is required to accompany the form unless you have already provided it to the GIC for health insurance coverage. If enrolling within 60 days of a qualifying event, you must attach proof of the qualifying event to your enrollment form.

Keep in mind: If you drop Retiree Dental coverage, you can never re-enroll in the plan, unless you have a documented loss of coverage elsewhere and apply within 60 days.
