What you need   for How to Report Welded & Mechanical Repairs and Alterations to High Pressure Power Boilers

For Welded Repairs and Alterations:

  • You must be an accredited R Certificate Holder to perform welded repairs and alternations.
  • All work must be done in accordance with the provisions of M.G.L. c. 146 § 2, the National Board Inspection Code (NBIC) Part 3 and 522 CMR 2.0
  • This applies to all high pressure power boilers and external piping.

For Mechanical Repairs and Alterations:

  • All work must be supervised by the Engineer in Charge.
  • Design requirements for mechanical repairs are to meet the original code of construction.
  • This applies to all high pressure power boilers and external piping.

  1. To Report Welded Repairs and Alterations

    Download and complete the NBIC R-1 and R-2 Forms along with any attachments. 

    Signed copies shall be made available upon request to the Division and Authorized Inspectors of the boiler. Distribution of Form R-1, Form R-2 and attachments is the responsibility of the organization performing the repair.

  2. To Report Mechanical Repairs and Alterations

    The Engineer in Charge must record all work and report it on BPV-034 Boiler External Piping Report of Mechanical Repair within 7 days.

    Completed forms must always be accessible to the Division and Authorized Inspectors.
